IP: Internet Protocol Number

IP address is a unique 32-bit (IPv4) or 128-bit (IPv6) number allocated to computers and other devices connected to the internet or local network (like a phone number for the mobile network).

Domain

Domain is a unique name by which you will be presented on the Internet (aka the IP address as an alias for a phone number).

There are several levels of the domain:

Domain first level called. Top Level Domain (TLD) is the national domain (. com,. com, ...) or generic (. com,. net,. info, ...).
Second domain level - for example. vašafirma.sk, vašafirma.com etc. For this annual fee is paid. After the payment becomes your exclusive property and trademark clearly identified on the Internet.
Third domain level called. subdomain - the subdomain to the second domain such order. forum.vašafirma.sk, this can create a rule to free its paid second domain level.

Database

Database (sometimes data base or data bank) is a collection of structured data or information stored in the computer system in such a way that a computer program, or one can use the query language (English: query language) to obtain this information. In a broader sense are part of databases and software tools used to manipulate and access stored data (most used for web are open source MySQL and PostgreSQL).

FTP: File Transfer Protocol

A specialized protocol for transferring files between two computers. The transmission is used FTP client. By default, thus loaded on the web presentation server.

E-mail

E-mail is an electronic mailbox in the shape example. Meno@vašafirma.sk, which has a unique name and a domain vašafirma.sk must pay (see paragraph on the domain). The e-mail to e-mail can send text messages and attachments. For sending and receiving electronic mail using the e-mail client or access to e-mail is allowed via webmail in the browser websites.

Domain Parking

Domain parking is generally free and connected with the management of DNS records for the domain. It is used if you want to own some domain, but still want to buy web hosting it, so do not plan to have it on site.

PHP

Scripting language working on the server side, used to generate dynamic content on web pages. Typically used for content management systems, forums, guest book, scripts and so on.

Transfer Domains

Registered domain which you own, you can convert between different accredited registrars or transfer it to a new owner. Domains are usually transferred to change web host or registrar who has better prices.

Webhosting

Location of websites and other services on a server that is permanently connected to the Internet. By default, the rents from the web hosting company for a fee, but you can buy and operate their own servers (but it's expensive).

IMAP, POP3

Protocols for remote access to e-mail inbox. Standard used to download emails to your computer via a desktop email client (program on your PC).

SSH: Secure Shell

Encrypted protocol that is used to secure access to server (can not be tapped as Standard on insecure protocol).

CRON

Cron is a program that lets you run scripts at a set time of the selected frequency (eg every day to send email, backup and update the database, etc.).
